Privacy Policy

This privacy policy explains how Nordic Appworks ("we", "us") handles information in the SpywareMonitor Android app (package name app.spywaremonitor.mobile) and on the website spywaremonitor.app.
In short: the app has no internet permission. Everything it checks and records stays on your phone. We do not collect, sell or share personal data, and the app contains no ads, analytics or tracking.
1. Data processed by the app
SpywareMonitor checks which apps on your own phone could be used to watch you. It stores the following only locally on your phone:

The app does not request internet access, so it cannot send this data anywhere. Its data is excluded from Android cloud backup and device-to-device transfer, so it is not copied to your Google account either. We have no access to it.
The list of known stalkerware is built into the app and updated together with the app through Google Play. It comes from Echap's stalkerware indicators (CC BY 4.0). The app does not download anything.
2. Purchases (Pro)
SpywareMonitor Pro is bought through Google Play. Google handles the payment under its own terms and privacy policy; we do not receive your payment details. The app only asks Google Play on your phone whether Pro was bought, and remembers the answer on the phone.
Google's billing library contains a component that would normally send technical usage logs about the library to Google. Because SpywareMonitor has no internet permission, this component cannot send anything.
3. Evidence report
If you create an evidence report, the app makes a PDF file on your phone and opens Android's share menu. You decide where the file goes. SpywareMonitor never sends the file anywhere by itself, and keeps only the latest report.
4. Notifications
If you switch on background monitoring, the app shows a notification when an app is installed or gets access that lets it watch you. On the lock screen it only says "Open SpywareMonitor for details", so the details are not shown to someone holding your phone.
5. Permissions
QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES: to see all installed apps, including hidden ones, and what they may do. This is the core function of the app. The app explains this on first launch, before it reads the app list.POST_NOTIFICATIONS: for warnings from background monitoring. The app only asks for it when you switch monitoring on.RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED: to keep the hourly check scheduled after the phone restarts.com.android.vending.BILLING: to buy Pro through Google Play.
6. Website
This website is hosted on GitHub Pages and does not use cookies, analytics or advertising. GitHub may process technical data such as your IP address to deliver the site; see GitHub's privacy statement. If you email us, your email address and message are used only to answer you.
7. Deleting your data
You can delete all app data at any time by clearing the app's storage in Android's settings or by uninstalling the app. To have an email you sent us deleted, write to us.
8. Children
SpywareMonitor is not directed at children and we do not knowingly process data about children.
9. Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
